Well it’s Australia Day here today and I’m sure there will be plenty of the Aussie traditions happening all over Australia today from “throwing a shrimp on the barbie”
to wearing “budgie smugglers and thongs” down at the beach, especially in Adelaide were the temperature hit 47 yesterday. Tony Abbot (ex prime minister) gets in the spirit below
I don’t usually celebrate it much really, It’s not that I’m not for my country I just find it to be another day to give most people a reason to get drunk and do stupid things, which is not what I see as patriotic or fun.
I do enjoy seeing the fireworks of an evening though as that always makes the night fun, however if you are reading this in Australia please don’t forget to keep your pets inside whilst the fireworks are on for safety.
When we move into our own home I will probably decorate a little for Australia Day but at the moment it’s hard because we are only in a 20m2 room which barely fits all our basic needs for the next 6 months so decorating is on the back burner.
Wherever you happen to be in the world I hope you are celebrating another day of life itself, everyday is a celebration and we need to make the most of it.
Enjoy your Australia Day my fellow Aussies
